Homes for Walkers

06.05.2021

'Summer in the Alps' is fast approaching (plus it is National Walking Month over in the UK this month), and to celebrate we thought we would round up some of the best properties we have on the market now ideal for walkers.

The best, most beautiful alpine walking in the Swiss Alps is often done in conjunction with the historic Bisses. These are the irrigation channels of the mountains from the steams delivering water to pastures, fields, vineyards and orchards. Many bisses are still relied on today and thus carefully maintained. Numerous trails have developed around them and there are many to explore. With great access to these Bisses and many of our properties offering a sauna and steam room to relax your aching limbs afterwards, it’s hard not to get into the spirit and don the walking boots...

Chalet Woovin - Nendaz

Chalet Woovin is an impressive property set within a 1000m² plot, just a five minute stroll from the centre of Nendaz. Following a days hiking through the Rhone Valley (which you can enjoy a view of from your terrace) you can unwind in the property's private sauna. We love this waterside walk Bisse du Milieu - Bisse Vieux and its easily accessible path makes it an enjoyable walk for all the family. Read more

Snow Valley - Crans Montana

Situated just up the road from the ancient Bisse du Tsittoret, first mentioned in the 15th Century, Snow Valley is a spectacular traditionally designed chalet with all the benefits of a relaxing well-being suite. Its south facing terraces mean you can relax long into the evening and review the historic waterways you have explored through the day, perhaps enjoying a glass of wine from one of the vineyards irrigated by The Tsittoret. We recommend allowing time to enjoy the impressive waterfall formed as it cascades over a sharp rack wall. Read more

Bisse du Levron flows between Verbier and Les Ruinettes and will make you feel like you are on the set of The Sound of Music with its winding waterways, lush banks and breath-taking views. After a long day in the hills you can return to the cosy and welcoming apartment of Le Fayard alongside a roaring fire, cosy TV den and social open plan kitchen area. Read more

Ancolie Penthouse - Anzère

Put your feet up in this tranquil Penthouse after a days' hiking and learning along the Bisses Museum and Museum Path. You can even try your hand at operating a bisses made of “bazots and tretschbord” in the Museum gardens. The marked footpath takes in three bisses, including the beautiful wooden channels of Torrent-Croix. The Ancolie Penthouse's generous balconies gives an air of calm to the apartment looking over the uninterrupted mountain views. Read more
