THINGS TO DO IN VERBIER DURING SUMMER

THINGS TO DO IN VERBIER DURING SUMMER

06.07.2020

Although Verbier attracts a wide audience, this world-famous destination is renowned for being the ski resort of the rich and famous, popular for its exclusivity, the skiing itself and its incredible late night après-ski. However, travel during the summer months and you will find scenery just as beautiful with plenty of fun on offer, underneath this snow-capped wonderland.

Summer in Verbier is mainly focused around being outdoors, which means you won’t be disappointed in what is on offer – nor the views! Whether you are planning to use your own chalet in Verbier during the warmer months, or want somewhere that has fantastic rental potential, here are some of our favourite things for you and/or your holiday guests to enjoy…

Walking/hiking

There are around 500km of marked walking trails, themed paths or treks in the mountains, forests and forests, to suit all abilities. The Bisse du Levron, for example is a relatively easy trail popular with families, as are Bisse des Ravines and Bisse de la Chapelle.

A little more challenging is the Pierre Avoi via Le Château route, which is a tall rock formation 2473m up the mountain (which requires ladders and chains to help you reach the summit), as well as Sentier des Chamois, which is a great one for spotting animals.

For something a little different, you can organise a guided walk of an abandoned mine where you can see the gorgeous rock formations – granite, quartz and marble - intertwined with specks of blue and green minerals. It’s just magical.

Cycling

Mountain biking is very popular in the Verbier, Val de Bagnes and La Tzoumaz region… there’s a Bike Park which opened in June this year offering eight downhill MTB trails across 17km with many jumps and ramps to enjoy. Two trails (the blue one’s) are mainly geared towards beginners, whilst the remainder are more suited to the advanced rider.

In addition, there are 213 km of enduro trails and over 500km of marked forest trails. Top tip: The e-bikes are rather great for helping you climb the hills! Don’t forget to stop and take photographs of the views either… they’re definitely not to be missed. For those who prefer cycling on the road, you won’t be disappointed either at the endless route options.

You can hire bikes from Mountain Air, where you will see some of our properties in the window. Do take a picture of yourselves up there if you spot it, and tag us on social media. We'd love to say hi back!

Aerial walkways

There are three high ropes adventures courses (green, blue, red) from a 12-metre tower, plus a kiddie’s course, in Médran, which are great fun for the whole family, combining high walkways with zip wires. We can’t wait to have a go this summer!

Wellness

After all of the sun filled activities, you may wish to have some down time to recharge the batteries. You can choose from yoga, fitness, massages, spa, personal training and Pilates. For something extra special, why not travel up the mountain and try a yoga class at altitude in La Chaux or Montfort. There are also some great juice bars, for example Artic Juice café.

Gastro

If you haven’t visited Verbier before, you definitely need to know where some of the best restaurants are. There are a good range from local Swiss cuisine to international, with choices that also include good value for money. Some of them require booking, especially for the best tables but our personal favourites include La Chotte Tortin, Le Dahu, Chez Danyand Restaurant Le Carrefour on the slopes, whilst we love Offshore Café, Le Rouge, L’Ecurie and La Grange in Verbier itself.

Après summer

Even without snow, you can still enjoy the party scene in the summer with various bars, wine bars and live music offering a chilled vibe.
